Fiinovation CSR - Sustainability of products, people, and planet

In the corporate world the competition became more fierce and widespread and this is the reason as leaders were given less time to deliver results, they had to focus more on corporate strategies and sacrifice their involvement with the workforce but the definition of the corporate world is slowly changing, such as employees are better educated and more aware of their rights, options, and desires, and expect the same to their leaders to be visible, motivated, actively participating, respectful, and most importantly open to suggestions from employees at all levels. Since the last 20 years or so, the concept of corporate social responsibility is gaining more attention around the whole world among business people, media, investors, shareholders, and academics from a wide range of disciplines.
“Sustainable development implies meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
                                                                    – The Brundtland Commission to the UN, 1987
The corporate world focuses on four aspects of sustainability.
There are four approaches:
  1. Societal influence: as a  measure of the impact that society makes upon the corporation in terms of the social contract and stakeholder influence.
  2. Environmental Impact: Is the effect of the actions of the corporation upon  its geophysical environment.
  3. Organization culture: It is the relationship between corporation, stakeholders and  particularly employees.
  4. Finance performance: An adequate return for the level of risk undertaken.
Sustainability is a response to the challenges of the modern world which transforms threats and problems into development opportunities for companies from the public and private sectors. The social responsibility and ethical aspects are of great importance in the modern world due to the increasing influence of organizations.
The world faces many environmental crises, and social responsibility helps to improve the environment. How?
Here we go, the world moved towards globalization, and more focus on social responsibility and sustainability or social responsibility and financial performance. Both social responsibility and sustainability or social responsibility and financial performance are the two faces of the same coin. The corporate world focuses more on social responsibilities, such as conducting societal programs that are helpful for the needy. The company’s management encourages employees to participate collectively in social responsibility programs and they try to understand the nature of the relationship between the dimensions of corporate social responsibility concept (cultural, social, economic, ethical, and legal). The concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) towards society in which it is located, the safety and health,  and contribution to a range of social activities from combating poverty and pollution control and any natural crisis. Definitely, the size of the company matters such as small, medium and large, according to this they establish their strategy of social responsibility through that Companies work to balance their participation in CSR programs.
Fiinovation  working on the Concentric model as well as Ethical model, it contains four kinds of social responsibilities that constitute total CSR:  economic (products, job, financial stability and growth), ethical (responsibilities to exercise the economic functions with a sensitive awareness of ethical norms), philanthropic (amorphous responsibilities that businesses should get involved with to improve the social environment) and legal (obey the law). fiinovation believes this model provides a wider scope of economic responsibilities, which include: generating wealth to improve the nation’s standard of living, supplying the needs and wants of people for goods and services, selling goods and services at fair prices, providing employment and fair wages and eliminating poverty in a holistic manner and also they  contribute to shaping the public agenda instead of simply reacting to policy choices advocated by others. fiinovation is a most promising corporation because they contribute to the society or the nation, rather than being confined to pure money-making ventures.

Fiinovation Client login - Why is Monitoring and Evaluation important for your CSR project.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the company’s responsibility towards the growth and development of social, economical and environmental factors by contributing a part of their profit. In order to implement the CSR activities, it is necessary to Monitor and Evaluate every part of it from the beginning to the end. Monitoring and Evaluation plays a very important role in corporate social responsibility activities. The term monitoring refers to checking and keeping a track on the projects if it is going in the right direction, and also to observe and measure the progress of the project. On the other side, Evaluation is to analyse how well the project has been implemented, what are the limitations after the implementation, the future obstacles to be faced and to check if the outcome of the project is positive or negative. Monitoring needs to be done before the implementation of the project and evaluation is carried out after the implementation. Hence Monitoring and Evaluation go hand in hand in order to make the project prosperous.

Following are the points to be considered in monitoring the CSR activity :

  • To check the effectiveness of the CSR project on what parameters it can be implemented.
  • To determine the resources required for it.
  • To analyse the durability of the project in future terms.
  • To observe and check the progress.
Points to be considered in Evaluation the CSR activity:

The evaluation can be classified into three parts

Process Evaluation: To check if the project is reached to the target

To classify if the project is going on as per the plan.

Impact Evaluation: To measure the performance of the project and to implement desire change

Outcome Evaluation: To check if the goal of the project is been achieved

To determine the contribution of other external factors.

The organisations need to create transparency about their CSR projects to the funding parties and to shareholders so that they can improve their brand image as well as the implementation of various projects and also encourage others to fund and participate in CSR activity,

Hence Monitoring and Evaluation plays a very important role to help the organisations for reaching their goals by taking the decision at the right time and to identify on what extent the target has reached also the outcome of it.

Energy Conservation - A corporate social responsibility

Energy is available in different forms like light, heat, thermal etc. This energy is generated from the natural resources, the use of these resources for converting into energy is increasing day by day due to industrialisation. Many manufacturing industries require more energy for their production purpose as without it they cannot produce further hence the consumption of energy is more from this sector. Unlike many rural areas in India do not have the facilities of electricity, fuel etc so they focus more on agriculture as their source of income, using raw methods of production and distribution. The consumption of energy is so much from the industries and the urban areas that it will be difficult to generate more for the future. Hence the corporates are applying different methods to conserve these energies for future use and also implementing different projects in rural areas to spread awareness about energy conservation and to make products which can work on naturally available sources. Many corporates are now investing in their CSR activities towards rural development with energy conservation products implementation as over 70% of indian pouplation lives in rural areas and many of them lack in electricity and other facilities so it becomes the responsibility of the organisations to use alternatives energy resource for their manufacturing purpose and to serve the rural areas with eco friendly energy products.

Innovative Financial Advisors Pvt Ltd ( Fiinovation ), is a leading research and advisory firm that offers expertise in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability domain. Fiinovation projects are popular in different states of india and also appreciated by many corporates over the world. Fiinovation partnered with a leading cement company for socio economic study at 12 districts spread across nine states. The study emphasises on education, finance , connectivity of electricity etc. The information about different Fiinovation CSR activities are available on their official website and also on their social media pages. Fiinovation focus helps the companies to invest and implement in the CSR activities which will benefit the society.

Around 40 % of energy is consumed by the Industries and the rest is consumed by commercial ,agricultural and other sectors.Conservation of Energy has become the main focus of many industries in this mechanical and technological era as everything we use requires large amounts of energy to produce and these products require efficient energy to work. Some organisations are now making use of renewable energy sources to minimise energy cost without affecting the quality, productivity and also to minimise environmental effects. Some industries are implementing their CSR activity of energy conservation in rural areas to help people by using products which run on renewable energy.

E.g - Dalmia Bharat and Sugar Industries Limited made use of products which work on renewable energy for the villagers to utilize it for cooking, lighting etc. They set solar panels for electricity, biogas plants for cooking which benefit 12 villages.

Many celebrities are also giving a helping hand to conserve the energy and to make renewable energy in use, like Akon an American singer started a project ‘Akon Lighting Africa’ to provide electricity for over 600million people in africa by using solar energy.

As the most of the energy is consumed by the industries in their activity like transportation , manufacturing and commercial purpose so it became the responsibility to serve the society by minimising the use of energy and implementing renewable sources for day to day work.

Fiinovation family focuses more on environmental activities and helps the company to implement their CSR activity to conserve resources and uplift the rural areas.Fiinovation CEO Dr Soumitro Chakraborty and team are working tirelessly for their CSR activities. 5 Easy Ways Companies Can Boost Their CSR in 2020

A new year, a new decade. In 2020, involved consumers are focused on reaching their personal, health, and professional goals. Similarly, while they do so, more and more of them are aligning with companies or brands that prioritize corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Nearly 90 percent of Americans will purchase from a company because it advocated for an issue they care about, according to a study. In addition, 76 percent will refuse to buy a company’s products or services if they learn the company supported an issue contrary to their beliefs.
As your business does some first-of-the-year reflecting, it’s important to ensure that its brand model reflects issues important to you and your audience. Company goals must consider more than economic metrics, they must also benefit stakeholders and the public.
Here are five ways to do so.
Volunteer
Companies are seeing benefits in offering volunteer days to their employees. This not only builds camaraderie within the company, it also spreads your company’s visibility among the supporters of the charity. TransUnion, for example, provides employees with a Volunteer Time Off day each year and matches donations up to $2,000 each for a cause close to their associates.
Invest in Social and Environmental Initiatives
Companies can support local and national organizations by donating directly or holding events in honor of a cause. You can also use your voice to help educate your audience on the issue and ways they can help. Some organizations encourage employees to donate a portion of their paycheck to particular causes in education, income, and health.
Practice Ethical Labor
The job market change constantly. Potential job applicants and current employees are looking for companies that practice what they preach in and out of the office. To ensure that your company attracts the best talent and maintains high morale, find opportunities to improve brand confidence. Offer competitive perks, provide a comfortable workspace, and look for ways to engage employees. Netflix provides employees with 52 weeks of paid parental leave. In addition, team members are able to take advantage of this perk at any point during their new child’s life.
Promote Philanthropy
Establish an in-house mission to create change. Form a social responsibility team and encourage it to lead your company in giving back to the community. For instance, Patagonia works in multiple ways to inspire its team members to give back. In addition, it partners with companies to bolster economic and environmental change.
Be Environmentally Conscious
Increasingly consumers are looking for ways to lessen their environmental impact. In many cases, they are supporting brands and businesses that are doing the same. With 30+ years of working to reduce its environmental impact on the planet, Johnson & Johnson looks to produce 35 percent of its energy from renewable sources through the purchase of private energy suppliers and other initiatives.
Carbon Footprint Tips
Businesses can make seamless changes within their structures to reduce their carbon footprint. A slew of companies are doing so. The airlines and Microsoft, for example. Ways your business can make a difference include: increasing recycling, decreasing energy and water use, enhancing waste management practices by going paperless, composting, eliminating bottled water, reducing plastic, and embracing eco-friendly travel policies. These policies include flying nonstop to reduce emissions, taking public transportation, carpooling, offering benefits for hybrid cars and staying at green hotels.
