"He who plants a tree plants a hope’’
- Lucy Larcom
Trees play a very essential role in our day to day life, without trees there is no life as they purify the air, provide shelter, give food so it is necessary to save them. Many products like paper, rubber etc are made from trees. Hence it becomes the responsibility for us to save them. The main reason for cutting down trees is to develop infrastructure and to make products from them. These activities are carried out mostly by government and corporates so it becomes a responsibility of the organisations to take a stand against such acts, as to establish a new plant land is required so the need is satisfied by cutting down the forests to make space for new industries. Same is with the government to develop new towns, build cities, development of transportation base like railway, airport etc they feel a necessity for space and in order to obtain it, deforestation takes place.
Various NGOs have already started their tree plantation projects around the world and it is addressing the world problems due to deforestation. It becomes a responsibility of the organisation to serve society by planting trees everywhere and to make the environment clean. So the organisation should focus on their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities to plant trees to preserve the climate.
Why should Tree Plantation be CSR activity?
The number of trees which was cut down for industrial purpose will be replanted in other regions
To attract others for tree plantation
To gain a brand image
To preserve the environment
To benefit the agricultural sector
To spread awareness about the importance of trees
To educate society
Reputed companies TATA and Amul started their tree plantation projects to preserve the environment.TATA project ‘Green Thumb’ took the initiative to plant 2 lakh trees at their various plant site by 2020 whereas Amul has planted more than 6lakhs trees. This big steps of the organisation towards the environment encouraged other companies to plan their CSR activities for tree plantation.
