Hence the knowledge is available at our fingertips and we can access from any part of the world. Smartphones are available from low range to high depending on the purchasing power of the consumer and now over 500million people in India use smartphones. But many people in India don’t know how to use the internet and how to apply for other services through the internet. The digital illiteracy rate is high in India as people are unaware of the use of technology.

Fiinovation CEO Dr Soumitro Chakraborty with his team working on such projects to increase the digital literacy rate in India.

In 2015, the Government of India launched the Digital India campaign to make people use the online Government services. The reason behind this campaign is to make India Digitally Literate, stable digital infrastructure, and to connect the rural areas with the internet.

Digital Literacy is important because we live in a world which is completely dependent upon the technology and in order to survive people must be aware of the use of technology in day to day life. E.g - During the pandemic of Covid-19 the country faced a lockdown situation, hence moving out of the house to buy necessity products became difficult. Hence it becomes possible through various online services by which the goods are delivered at our doorstep without going out of the house. Imagine a person who is digitally illiterate who doesn't know how to place an online order, how will he face this situation? How will he survive? In this technological era, people cannot ignore the benefit of technology as it has become a part of our life.

Hence it becomes important to spread awareness about digital literacy and to make people use the technology. Fiinovation in this program at government girls senior secondary school covering more than 3000 girl students to develop an interest in using new technology to become independent, self-reliant and confident.
